Our Mission
The National Conference of Vicars for Religious serves individuals who are appointed by their diocesan bishops to provide pastoral services to men and women who are members of religious institutes and other forms of consecrated life.

To accomplish this mission, the Conference meets regionally and nationally to:
-
Identify special needs and share expertise and experience
-
Honor and value diversity among our members
-
Collaborate with other conferences, councils of major superiors, CICL/SAL and other offices which promote consecrated life
-
Explore ways to improve communication within the conference and with the public
-
Bear witness to the role of consecrated life by promoting its place, value and contributions to the Church
Our Story
The National Conference of Vicars for Religious comprises members who serve as Vicars for Religious in dioceses throughout the United States. The group represents a wide variety of persons – religious women, religious brothers, religious priests, diocesan priests, bishops and laywomen. Together the members form a network of resources and as our Mission Statement says, “bear witness to the role of consecrated life by promoting its place, value and contributions to the Church.”

NCVR: A “Mosaic” for the Church in the United States

The images presented on our web site reflect the diversity and unique gifts of the members coming together from many dioceses to carry out a common mission. We have chosen the beauty of mosaics and other architectural features found in our cathedrals of the United States to symbolize the mission of the NCVR. Each piece of a mosaic is unique and precious; together the pieces form a masterpiece of beauty, an inspiring work of art to uplift the human spirit to a transcendent experience of God. Together, we honor and support consecrated life,“lives which radiate the joy and beauty of living the Gospel and following Christ to the full” (Pope Francis, Letter to All Consecrated People on the Occasion of the Year of Consecrated Life).
